National Interpool Day 2: Riziere, CPS Offside!

The immediate future looks bleak for host city Bafoussam, as the west regional representative was given a lashing by Bafut Rangers. Same scenario obtained for CPS Bertoua that lost two – nil to Gazelle FA.

The most disturbing thing for these two is the fact that they’re lodged in a group of 3; in order words, a parity for the sides with victory on Sunday September 19, will see them through.

The day opened with a group B fixture pitting North reps. Gazelle against East ambassadors – CPS Bertoua.

Gazelle showed cameos of brilliance and took the led via a Moustapha goal, 10 minutes before the half hour mark. CPS Bertoua looked relatively older and more matured but couldn’t keep up with the pace of Gazelle. With the time winding down, Gazelle picked CPS apart on a counter as the East representative looked for an equaliser. The result of Gazelle’s counter was a goal at depth by Souley (90) minutes.

The second game still, at the Fotso Victor stadium saw Bafut Rangers take on Riziere de Tonga.

Rangers benefited from great transitional play to at the cusp to each half to run away with all three points.

Edjo Elvis struck at the 42nd minute and deeper in the second, Ledwin Aruna struck from the spot to gift Rangers the edge in group C.

FC Ebolowa and Best Stars Academy were on standby in pools B and C respectively. They’d get to action on Wednesday 22.
