Ngamaleu Scores In Young Boys’ 3-1 Victory Over Basel

Fresh from claiming bronze at the just ended AFCON, Moumi Ngamaleu was back at it for club-side Young Boys, with a goal for his team against Basel – in the Swiss league.

The game had a lot of stakes, and thus, tension, leading to a red card each, for the both teams.

At the Stade de Suisse, Basel opened scores at the 22nd minute through Michael Lang. It took 17 minutes for Young Boys to respond in fine fashion. Midfeilder, Vincent Sierro made it one – all, and game on.

The game was turned on its head on Basel’s side, as they had a man sent off on the hour mark. Wouter Burger’s second yellow earned him a matching order.

Moumi Ngamaleu and teammates took advantage of the numerical advantage – 9 minutes after, as the winger doubled the money for Young Boys.

3 minutes separated the second goal from the third for Young Boys. Assisted by Rieder, 25 year old Theoson Siebatcheu made it 3-1 for the hosts.

Ulisses Garcia was shown the door (red) for Young Boys as well, but Basel couldn’t quite tire or work Young Boys, to get back to level terms.

With the victory, Young Boys now edge Basel with 2 points. Young Boys are 2nd with 39 points after 21 days, 10 behind leaders – FC Zurich.

Young Boys still have some some hope in pursuit for the Champions league spot occupied by FC Zurich. They’re up against Grasshoppers next week
