No Heroes, No Villains: FECAFOOT Picks Election Months

The Cameroon Football Federation has announced via a communique, the grouping of her statutory bodies to agree upon the adoption of the new FECAFOOT text and run elections for the new executives in July, August, September and October.

December 2018 now seems a long time ago; when President Seidou Mbombo Njoya was elected as new President of the Cameroon Football Federation, FECAFOOT, following elections in Yaounde.
He picked up 46 votes ahead of his closest rival Joseph Antoine Bell with 17. It is nearly the end of his mandate as new elections are fastly approaching. All through his reign, there has been ‘No hero or villain’. No matter Seidou Mbombo Njoya’s works, other stakeholders have given him lots of ticks.

Since taking over at the helm of FECAFOOT, Mbombo Njoya has brought in sponsorship deals: Le Coque Sportif replacing Puma at the level of the national selections, and many more. However, the constant back and forth with General Pierre Semengue of the dissolved Professional League dented the personality of the incumbent.

The communique released by FECAFOOT on elections matter this year reads;

After working in close collaboration with FIFA on the draft statutes, electoral code and code of ethics, the timetable for the adoption of the said texts and the organization of the elections is as follows:

  • The organization of the General Assembly for the adoption of new statutes in July 2021, the electoral code and other texts of FECAFOOT; in the same month, there will be the organization of a General Assembly for the adoption of the texts.
    The elections of executives in the Divisional and Regional leagues, as well as that of the delegates to the General Assembly of FECAFOOT, will follow in August and September respectively.

Then, comes the big deal; the holding of the General Assembly in October 2021 for the election of the president and members of the Executive Committee of FECAFOOT.

In the communique signed by interim president Seidou Mbombo Njoya, the latter calls for a sense of responsibility of footballers in the context of future operations.

FECAFOOT invites stakeholders to participate in peace, respect for public order and the spirit of the republic on these important dates for the future of football. The FECAFOOT thank the Government, FIFA and CAF for their mobilization alongside FECAFOOT within the framework of this interim period

FECAFOOT has invited stakeholders, as usual, to participate in peace, respect for public order and a republican spirit on these important dates for the future of football.
