Nsame header lifts Young Boys to top, after hard fought victory against Lausanne Ouchy

It was a tough job that the Young Boys had to do against newly promoted Stade Lausanne Ouchy.

In the end, a goal from Jean-Pierre Nsame in the 76th minute was enough to win against an opponent who hit the frame of the goal twice.

Stade Lausanne Ouchy was guest in the delayed game on Wednesday evening, and YB coach Raphael Wicky made changes for the game against the promoted team.

It’s wasn’t Anthony Racioppi in goal, but rather David von Ballmoos, who made his second appearance in the championship since the summer.

In the center of defense, Fabian Lustenberger defended alongside Aurèle Amenda, Noah Persson on the left and Saidy Janko on the right. Donat Rrudhani equally made the starting line-up for his first time.

In the 14th minute, Alban Ajdini put the ball past the right post from a good position as the visitors searched for an opener.

Ater half an hour Lausanne Ouchy had their best chance – which wasn’t converted.

After a combination between Lucas Pos and Jean-Pierre Nsame, referee Stefan Horisberger pointed to the penalty point.

Nsame took responsibility, but goalie Dany Da Silva parried the shot.

It’s was never going to be easy for the hosts to get full concentration in ther 18.

Nsame found a gap and put the ball in the goal, at the 48th minute but it was chalked off for offside (48′).

Wicky took personnel measures and made three changes after 64 minutes: Meschack Elia replaced Silvere Ganvoula, Lukasz Lakomy came in for Ebrima Colley, and Sandro Lauper took over from Filip Ugrinic.

Eight minutes later, Ulisses Garcia entered the field, and shortly afterwards took center stage.

From the left, Garcia hit a perfect cross into the penalty area, where Nsame rose and headed in. For the 30-year-old, it is his 138th goal for YB.

From the 87th minute, YB had to make do with ten men. The VAR tech after a foul by Janko against Ismaël Gharbi, took action.

Thanks to the 1-0 win, the Young Boys take over the top of the table and move past FC Zurich, who still have to catch up on the game against Winterthur.
