Nsame Scores 8th Goal For Young Boys

After two converted penalties in the second half, the game between Yong Boys and Sion ended with a share of the spoils. Balotelli gave Sion the lead, but Cameroonian international, Jean Pierre Nsame equalized.

The guests got off to a wonderful start in Wankdorf. After just a few minutes, Balotelli missed a clear scoring opportunity, and after, Yong Boys were unlucky after 25 minutes when Itaitinga hit the bar.

YB played better and pressed high, with the only thing missing, being the goal. Nsame, Fassnacht and Rieder did get shots from good positions, but either the balls flew too centrally onto the goal or they missed target.

After the break, Young Boys fell behind. Balotelli confidently converted a penalty that came about after a misunderstanding in the YB defense to make it 0:1 (53rd minute).

A little over ten minutes later, YB also got a penalty after the Sion goalkeeper tapped the heel of Nsame.

The YB attacker converted the penalty for his eighth goal of the season to make it 1: 1 (64th).

It stayed that way until the end despite YB continued put pressure. Sion switched to counterattack and came dangerously in front of the YB goal several times with substitute Stojilkovic.

Twice Garcia had long-range shots, Imeri as well, just before the Rrudhani had the best chance for the Young Boys, but all those couldn’t get converted.

That was the first time in seven years that YB lost points against Sion in a championship home game. The series of long invincibility continues.

Since the 1-2 draw in August 1996, YB has not lost in 37 championship home games against Sion (32 wins, 5 draws).

The next game for YB is against Basel on Sunday, October 30, 2022, 4:30 p.m. at the Wankdorf Stadium.
