Official: Jean Claude Bilong To Miss AFCON 2021

It is now official. Jean Claude Billong will not be in Cameroon for the 33rd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations! Amid players selected by Lions national coach, Antonio Conceiçao, Jean Claude Billong announced on Monday that he was withdrawing following his ankle injury, and the doctor’s advise to stay out of action.

The latter made the announcement on his Instagram account.

‘It is with immense regrets that I would not honor my call up for the AFCON 2021 in my country in Cameroon, following an ankle injury.

‘After medical advice and discussion with the coach, my injury does not allow me to return in time for the competition,’ Bilong stated.

Jean Claude Bilong has however sent out an air of positivity through his support for the Lions.

‘All my strength and support goes to the Cameroonian public and the national team to bring the cup home,” the 27 year old ended.

Bilong picked up his injury on December 1, 2021, in Clermont Foot’s two – all draw against Lens.
