Official: Malong Joins Bochum From Olympiacos On A Season Long Loan

Pierre Kunde Malong has joined Bochum on a season long loan to last until June 30th, 2023. VfL Bochum and Olympiakos agreed terms for an undisclosed fee.

The loan of the Cameroonian international (35 appearances) also includes a purchase option. For the 27-year-old midfielder, it is a return to the Bundesliga.

Pierre Kunde played for FSV Mainz 05 in the German top flight from 2018 to 2021 and scored four goals in 68 games.

With Olympiakos Piraeus he won the Greek championship in 2022. Patrick Fabian, Managing Director Sport at VfL Bochum 1848, declared in a statement: that “ Pierre Kunde Malong is an asset to the team for his technical and tactical skills, as well as his dynamism and resilience. The fact that he knows the Bundesliga and has already fought successfully with Mainz to stay up in the league is, an addition to his international experience, plus points that speak for him. We now want to introduce Pierre to the team as quickly as possible, and the training camp is perfect for that.”

Pierre Kunde Malong was born in Limbé, Cameroon. He learned and perfected his craft at Best Stars before he moved to Europe at the age of 16.

He was transferred to Atlético Madrid via the club Alcobendas CF. For the “Colchoneros” he went through the U19 and the reserves, before he was loaned out to Extremadura and Granada, and then he joined 1.FSV Mainz 05 in 2018.

He has taken part in the Africa Cup of Nations twice (2019 and 2022) for the national team of Cameroon and was part of the 2022 World Cup squad, where he played in group matches against Serbia and Brazil.
