Official: Marou Souaibou Is A Buccaneer

Orlando Pirates has announced via her socials the signing of Marou Souaibou from Cotonsport of Garoua, for three seasons.

The club put through a statement this Thursday, January 19, welcoming the striker whose transfer has been long awaited.

“Orlando Pirates Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of Souaibou Marou from Coton Sport.

“The 22-year-old has secured a deal that will see him at the Club until 2025.

“Marou comes to South Africa on the back of a three-year stint with his former club, Coton Sport, winning two league titles in the process, including Player of the Season award in 2022.”

Marou Souaibou was the most consistent player for Cotonsport in the previous years. He netted important goals for club and country, and he finally got the nod from coach Rigobert Song, making Cameroon’s 28-man world cup squad, as Pirates added: “His form in the Cameroonian league didn’t go unnoticed as he was selected to the 2022 FIFA World Cup squad that competed in Qatar.”

Souaibou put pen to paper yesterday and he is set to join his new teammates this Thursday, January 19.

The Buccaneers are 5th in the ongoing DSTV premiership with 22 points from 16 games. The goals however have not been fluid for the men of coach Jose Riveiro, and they will be looking up to Souaibou to fix that.

9-time DSTV premiership winners Pirates will face Stellenbosch on Sunday January 22, with newcomer Souaibou set to make his debut.
