Olivier Boumal Keeps Flying With The Jets

The A-League was back in action with an advanced day 4 fixture this weekend, as Newcastle Jets took on Wellington Phoenix this Friday. The Jets won four – nil, though both teams were tagged strugglers prior to the game.

Boumal’s presence in the tie changed all. Prior to the winger’s coming to the league, Wellington Phoenix had a good record against Newcastle Jets and won 22 out of 41 matches played between the two teams. The Jets had managed just 13 victories against Wellington Phoenix and stepped up big time, to get their 14th victory on Friday.

Olivier Boumal – was of utter importance to his Newcastle Jets team as he assisted one of their four goals in the encounter.

The 32 – year – old placed on the plate for Beka Mikeltadze, whose intricate finish at the 32nd minute, gifted the Jets a lead.

From there on, the Jets just kept flying. Beka Mikeltadze completed his brace at the 52nd minute, before Dylan Murnane, and Daniel Penha, finished off Wellington Phoenix.

Boumal has been on fire since joining the club in the summer. The left winger has scored once, and dished out two assists in four games played.

Newcastle Jets are temporarily off to 5th in the 12 – team championship with 5 points, while awaiting other fixtures.
