Onana ends 23rd in ballon d’or, 6th in Lev Yashin
Andre Onana finished 23rd in the voting for the 2023 Ballon d’Or, with the annual awards ceremony taking place in Paris on Monday evening.
The Manchester United goalkeeper, signed from Internazionale during the summer, was recognised for his performances for the Serie A club in 2022/23, with the Nerazzurri making it to the UEFA Champions League final for the first time since 2010.
Simone Inzaghi’s side also lifted the Coppa Italia and Onana made a big impact in his one and only season at San Siro, keeping 19 clean sheets in 41 appearances.
As well as ranking in the top 30 of the main award, Andre was also in the running for the Yashin Trophy, presented to the world’s best goalkeeper.
The Cameroon international ended up sixth, with Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez taking the accolade following his performances for Argentina in last winter’s World Cup.
