Onana saves Pen. As United joins archrivals City, in FA Cup final

Andre Onana played a key role in Man United’s FA Cup semi-final shootout victory over Coventry, making a save and getting a booking.

United prevailed 4-2 in the shootout after Coventry duo Callum O’Hare and Ben Sheaf failed from 12 yards with the Championship side’s third and fourth kicks.

Coventry led the shootout 2-1 after Casemiro’s unsuccessful opening effort but Onana saved O’Hare’s hit and Sheaf skied his attempt.

Onana was booked for gamesmanship before Sheaf stepped up, having been carded during the 90 minutes for time wasting.

Meanwhile, in a thrilling encounter at Wembley, the Red Devils raced into an early lead after Scott McTominay opened the scoring in the 23rd minute.

Harry Maguire doubled the lead on the stroke of half-time before Bruno Fernandes added a third on the hour mark.

However, Ellis Simms pulled one back in the 71st minute to start a strong comeback from the Championship side.

Eight minutes later O’Hare reduced the deficit before a 95th-minute penalty from Haji Wright forced the game into extra-time.

Manchester United will face rivals Manchester City in a repeat of the 2023 FA Cup final in May.

Manchester City defeated Chelsea 1-0 in the other semi-final on Saturday, courtesy a late Bernardo Silva strike.
