Patrice Beaumelle set to be unveiled today as Angola’s new head coach
The Angolan Football Federation (FAF) will officially introduce Frenchman Patrice Beaumelle as the new head coach of the country’s national team on Monday, a federation source has confirmed.
Beaumelle is set to sign a two-year contract, replacing Portuguese coach Pedro Gonçalves, who had led the team for six years (2019–2025).
The primary goal for the new coach will be to guide the Palancas Negras to the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, scheduled for December 2025 and January 2026.
Beaumelle has a deep history in African football. He served as an assistant to fellow Frenchman Hervé Renard, with whom he helped coach Côte d’Ivoire and Zambia to African championship victories. Angola is not new territory for Beaumelle; he previously assisted Renard in Angola in 2010.
He is the second Frenchman to take the top coaching role for the Angolan national team, following Renard.
Angola will not participate in the upcoming World Cup, having last qualified for the tournament in Germany in 2006.
