Patrick Mboma Not Keen On Indomitable Lions Job

Amid a wide spread of rumours – like peanut-butter in Oats – about Mboma’s interest in coaching Cameroon, the EX Lions forward has distant himself from any of such dealings.

A guest on the program “Les Grandes Bouches”, on Canal + Sport – on Monday, February 14, the former Cameroonian international denied rumours that he had applied for the position of coach of the Indomitable Lions, in possible replacement of Antonio Conceicao.

“I no longer feel the desire to be coach of the Indomitable Lions. I wanted to be in 2019, but I was not trusted. Toni Conceicao was chosen in my place, and many people come back to those comments from 2019, that I wanted to be the indomitable Lions coach. But I don’t care what people say on social networks, ”opined the 5th highest goal scorer in the history of the Indomitable Lions, with 33 goals in 57 caps.

Meanwhile, Antonio Conceiçao remains at the helm of the Cameroon national football team. This, despite pressure from fans who demanded his head on a guillotine after the elimination of Cameroon in the semi-finals of the 2021 AFCON.

Cameroon’s minister of Sports, Professor Narcisse Mouelle Kombi decided to keep the Portuguese technician, in his most recent outing after the tourney.

Many fans of the Lions received the news with mixed feeling on the evening of February 5, 2022. Their team had just won bronze in the AFCON played at their own back yard.

The team’s inability to claim their 6th trophy was linked to Antonio Conceicao, who many believed; it was due to his incomprehensible choices, and lack of personality to handle the locker room, which had players like Choupo-Moting, desire to go and never return.
