Petkovic becomes Africa’s best paid coach with Algeria job
Swiss coach Vladimir Petkovic will be handsomely paid in his new role as Algeria coach.
Algeria has just turned the page Djamel Belmadi. It is now the Swiss Vladimir Petkovic who is in charge of the Greens. His arrival was made official on Thursday afternoon and he will be presented to the media next Monday.
The Helvetian has signed up for a period of two years with the Fennecs. While he was unemployed, he found work and also a rather advantageous salary. He will receive almost double what he received with the Nati. He will be entitled to €130,000 per month, compared to €70,000 paid to him by his national federation. On the other hand, it is useful to point out that in Bordeaux, he was entitled to 280,000 euros per month.
Petkovic could also be entitled to some interesting bonuses if he achieves his goals. A triumph at the next CAN would ensure €200,000, while qualification for the 2026 World Cup would ensure double this sum. On the other hand, if he fails to fulfill one of these objectives, the federation reserves the right to fire him without any compensation.
As a reminder, Djamel Belmadi, Petkovic’s predecessor, was entitled to a salary of €200,000. And he was the highest paid coach in the previous CAN. But without the results that go with it.
