Professor Narcisse Puts An END To Choupo Moting’s International Career

Portuguese technician, Antonio Conceiçao, will continue his job atop the national selection of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.

The country’s minister of sports confirmed on Sunday, February 13, that the trainer will continue his journey with the team. Guest of the program “Actualités Hebdo” on CRTV, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi insisted that the Indomitable Lions will have to continue to work for future challenges without necessarily being destabilized by a change of their technical staff.

Ex Lions’ skipper, Eric Maxim Choupo Moting had told reporters in Cameroon’s third place playoff against Burkina Faso that, with Conceiçao at the helm, he cannot return to the selection.

The reasons for the Bayern poacher was clear to him. He didn’t get a good ‘treatment’ during the AFCON tourney, and wasn’t respected by coach Conceiçao.

Here re the declarations of Professor Narcisse Mouelle Kombi on CRTV;

“We need to know where we started from. We are in a phase of rebuilding the team. “Senegal had a Senegalese coach last in 2019, but he didn’t win. It is not a panacea and each time we have won a trophy […] it was with a coach of foreign origin”. It is preparation in serenity, in unity, in harmony, prior to games in March, that will see us through…”.

The minister added, “we have a team that is gaining momentum. A team that has shown its strength, its fighting spirit, its combativeness.

Professor Narcisse Mouelle equally emphasized on the fact that, Conceiçao has good enough back-up in local coaches “ our staff is made up of expatriates, but also Cameroonians (François Omam-Biyik, Jacques Songo’o,….)”. “The priority right now is not to destabilize the team, by cutting off the trainer’s head. The priority is to get the team back to work, to bring back a spirit of harmony, cohesion and solidarity,’ Cameroon’s Minister of sports opined

Meanwhile, Choupo Moting has started training with his club side Bayern Munich. His agent and Dad, Just Choupo, is fully in support of his client’s idea of not respecting any national team call, if Conceiçao is involved.

Cameroon already have both eyes set for their double confrontation against Algeria on March 23, and 29 respectively.
