Qatar 2022: Aliou Cissé Replaces Mane With Defender, Moussa Ndiaye

To replace Teranga Lions’ number ’10’ – Sadio Mané, Aliou Cissé has called on Anderlecht left back Moussa Ndiaye.

Ruled out of the 2022 World Cup due to a knee injury, Sadio Mané had to be replaced to numerically keep the team abreast and Moussa Ndiaye of RSC Anderlecht has won the coin toss.

The 20-year-old is however not an out-and-out replacement, as he comes mainly to act as makeshift, with Ismail Jakobs yet to obtain green light from FIFA to play in the World Cup for Senegal.

Born in Germany to a German mother and a Senegalese father, Monaco man Ismail Jakobs is still waiting for his change of sporting nationality and is therefore not called up for the match against the Netherlands, this Monday at 5 p.m. (local time). This is the first time that Moussa Ndiaye has been called up by Teranga Lions coach Aliou Cissé.
