Qatar 2022: Black Stars Touch Down On Abu Dhabi Soil

Players of the Black Stars of Ghana, led by captain Andre Ayew arrived Abu Dhabi on Sunday, Nov. 13 as the team looks set to pit Switzerland in their last pre-world cup friendly game on Thursday, November 17.

Ghana became the second African side participating in the World Cup to enter the city of Abu Dhabi after the Indomitable Lions did so on Thursday, November 11.

The Black Stars will open camp this Monday, just after coach Otto Addo releases his 26-man squad that has prolly seen a lot of adjustments due to injuries.

Ghanasoccernet earlier reported that, Asante Kotoko’s Ibrahim Danlad will take the place of injured Joseph Wollacott, and there could be other additions with Baba Iddrissu and Richard Offori reportedly ruled out of the tournament, owing to injury.

Group H of the world cup will feature loads of megastars, but the Black Stars are capable of pulling the ‘rabbit out of the hat’ as they have shown on different occasions, despite resilient opponents in; South Korea, Portugal and Uruguay.

The boys of Otto Addo will look to eclipse their 2010 quarter-final run which is the country’s personal best record. Switzerland will act as the perfect sparring partners, before Ghana plays a star-studded Portugal in their World Cup opener on Thursday, November 24.
