Qatar 2022: Boufal Apologizes For leaving Out Africa In Post Match Interview

Sofiane Boufal has added up Africa, which he initially forgot after the victory against Spain in the round of 16 of the 2022 World Cup.

“We have just written a story, the emotions we had during this match are incredible. This victory belongs to all the Moroccan people, all the Arabs, and all the Muslims of the world, ”said the Atlas Lions winger in an interview conducted by beIN Sport.

His remarks was made immediately after Morocco’s historic 3-0 penalty over Spain, after a soldi defensive display that saw the Atlas Lions draw level (0-0) in regular play time.

Those Words made the rounds on social networks. It shocked and displeased many African observers who are supporters of Morocco during this World Cup.

Aware of the stir caused by his statement, Sofiane Boufal wanted to clarify and reassure the African continent. In a message on his official networks, the Angers player apologized.

“Sorry for having forgotten to quote the entire African continent yesterday (Tuesday, editor’s note) in the post-match interview. Thank you for being behind us, I also dedicate the victory to you of course. We are proud to represent all our brothers on the continent”, wrote the player on Instagram.

Those words, which came from the mouth of Sofiane Boufal after the feat against Spain, sent social media agog. The latter put a close to the polemics with his latest outing.

Morocco are up against Portugal who ran riot over Switzerland in the round of 16. The game is scheduled for Saturday, December 10.
