Qatar 2022: Bounou Wins Second MOTM Award, And Africa’s 11th
Yassine Bounou’s heroics against Portugal landed him the Budweiser Man of the Match accolade against on Saturday.
The award was given to an African for the 11th time in the tournament, and Bounou became only the first player from the continent to win the award twice.
With 3 decisive saves and a clean sheet (his 4th in this World Cup) against Portugal, Bounou was emphatic.
The 31 year old was very much in the thick of things as Morocco made history by becoming the first African country to qualify to the semi-finals of the World Cup after a 1-0 victory against Portugal.
Youssef En-Nesyri scored the winner towards the end of the first half as the Atlas Lions put on another incredible display to advance to the last four.
