Qatar 2022: Choupo Moting Set To Continue Beautiful Story Against Serbia

12 years ago Eric Maxim Choupo Moting switched allegiance from Germany to represent the Indomitable Lions as a rookie aged 21. He scored his debut goal against Serbia in an international friendly on June 5, 2010 – as it ended 4-3 for the Serbs.

Fast forward to 2022 in the FIFA world cup in Qatar, Choupo is now 33 and he and his teammates face Serbia in a pulsating encounter, needing a victory to keep a round of 16 place within reach.

The erstwhile Stoke man was named captain in Cameroon’s first outing against Switzerland but his captaincy wasn’t graced with succes as the Indomitable Lions fell via a one-nil margin.

Choupo had one of Cameroon’s chances in the first half against Switzerland after he ran half the length of the pitch but saw his attempt parried away by Sommer, who denied the forward what could have been his 20th goal.

Choupo Moting is set to start against Serbia and if history is anything to go by, the Bayern man will be looking to continue his story where it started.

A win for the Indomitable Lions will get their World Cup campaign back on track while defeat against Serbia will mean the end of Cameroon’s journey, regardless of what happens in the last group G game against Brazil.
