Qatar 2022: Hakimi Wins Africa’s 8th MOTM Award

PSG star Achraf Hakimi is known for his defensive abilities but the full back is not shy of galloping forward when the chance presents itself. Testament to his attacking abilities with the Atlas Lions were his two goals in the AFCON finals earlier this year, coupled with his two goals in the World Cup qualifiers.

Hakimi was voted man of the match after the historic victory of the Atlas Lions against Canada on match day 3 of group F.

The defender was an author of a decisive pass for Youssef En-Nesyri’s first tourney goal and Morocco’s second as the Atlas Lions topped the group.

As a reminder, Morocco made the round of 16 of the 2022 World Cup after their victory by 2 goals to 1 against Canada, on Thursday at the Al Thumama stadium in Doha, repeating the feat of 1986 World Cup in Mexico.

Under the leadership of Walid Regragui, the Atlas Lions ensured the qualification with style and swagger, confirming the great ambitions displayed before the Qatari World Cup.

Africa MOTM Award winners so far: Aidouni, Aboubakar, Ziyech, Dia, Koulibaly, Kudus, Kazhri and Hakimi.
