Qatar 2022: Koulibaly Makes It 6 MOTM Awards For Africa

For their last group stage game, the Senegalese selection defeated Ecuador two-one and qualified for the round of 16 of the Qatar 2022 World Cup, with an impressive Kalidou Koulibaly whose performance earned him a MOTM award.

The other 45 minutes were very decisive for the two sides. In the 68th minute of play, Moises Caicedo brought a smile to the Ecuadorians’ camp by restoring parity in the contest. Two minutes later, the Africans regained the advantage thanks to Kalidou Koulibaly’s 70th minute strike as it eventually ended 2-1.

It is for the first time in 20 years that Senegal have qualified for the round of 16 of the World Cup, and they were marshalled by skipper, Kalidou Koulibaly.

Koulibaly became the second Senegalese and the 6th African player to win the prestigious man of the match award after; Aïssa Aidouni (Tunisia), Hakim Ziyech (Morocco), Vincent Aboubakar (Cameroon), Mohamed Kudus (Ghana) and teammate, Boulaye Dia of Senegal.
