Qatar 2022: Morocco Reinforces With Begian-Born Zaroury

On Sunday against Monaco, Olympique Marseille and Morocco lost Amine Harit who was ruled  out of the World Cup.

The 25-year-old Moroccan international badly injured his knee, and should be absent for several months plus, unavailable for the World Cup in Qatar which he was to play with the Atlas Lions in the coming days.

Coach Walid Regragui has therefore  replaced him with  Anass Zaroury in his list of 26.

Anass was born in Mechelen, Belgium on November 7, 2000. The Burnley winger has scored 8 goals and dished out 2 assists this season, but he has never donned the Atlas Lions’ jersey as he is of  Belgian descent and was undecided before Regragui’s call. Anass Zaroury has previously played for Youth categories in Belgium from the U17s, U18s and U21s.

The lad is set to join the group in Doha as Morocco looks to sort out his documents which will confirm his switch of allegiance from Belgium to Morocco.
