Qatar 2022: One Last Dance For Morocco As Third Place Beckons

This Saturday afternoon, Croatia and Morocco will compete to win bronze at this year’s global showpiece. The two nations were beaten in the semi-finals and aim to finish on a high note.

Both teams met earlier in the competition at the group phase but it ended goalless in group F – despite loads of chances created.

It is a chance for Morocco and the African continent to grab a medal after a scintillating show in the tournament that has up till this point, just been the stuff dreams are made of.

Reigning vice-champions – Croatia did not go far from playing a second consecutive final. However, the Vatreni could not solve the Argentina puzzle in the semi-finals. The Croats were undoubtedly blunted after playing two games in extra time against Japan and Brazil.

Against Argentina, Croatia were quickly drubbed. Lionel Messi opened the scoring in the 34th minute of play, before Julian Alvarez scored two more goals to reach a fourth goal mark in the World Cup.

The Atlas Lions impressed throughout the tournament, finishing first in a pool made up of Belgium and Croatia, then beating Spain 3-0 on post match penalties after zero-all in regular playtime and Portugal, by a goal to nothing.

The game will will take place – 4 p.m. local time. The Croatia – Morocco match will be played at the Khalifa International Stadium in Al Rayyan.
