Qatar 2022: Rigobert Song Nursing Regrets After Historic Win Against Brazil

Although satisfied with the performance of his players at the 2022 World Cup which ended with a historic but insufficient victory against Brazil, Rigobert Song praised the performance of his players whom he described as warriors.

“It’s a young team. We gain experience. Today, we nurse regrets concerning the first matches we were able to play and the opportunities we had. I am proud of my players because they have shown that they are true warriors. It’s a new generation that has the spirit of competitors and today they demonstrated it. We leave with a little regret because we think we could have done even better, ” Song told BeIN Sport.

“We said we were getting stronger. (…) As for the regrets, it is in the first match that we had them. We created opportunities. Today I am proud of my players. They have demonstrated that they are true warriors, ” ended Cameroon’s most capped player (137).

This 1-0 victory for Cameroon against Brazil, meant the Indomitable Lions won their first game in the World Cup since 2002, which is 20 years ago.
