Qatar 2022: Roberto Martinez Leaves The Red Devil’s IN TEARS

The zero-all tie against Croatia, synonymous to the elimination of Belgium from the group stage of the World Cup, meant the last game of Roberto Martínez as coach of the Red Devils.

With tear balls in his eyes, the Spanish technician announced at a press conference that he was leaving his post.

It became the end of a six-year adventure for the man who took over Belgium 2016.

“It has nothing to do with elimination in the group stage. I had made the decision before the start of the World Cup,” he said.

“ You have to play three games, and we only played one”, he regretted in front of the journalists.

‘I think we were the best team today, we had the best chances. I believe that if we had qualified today, we would have seen the real Belgium. Unfortunately, we missed the first two games.’ The former Wigan Athletic gaffer ended.
