Qatar 2022: Turbo-charged Aboubakar Aid Cameroon To A Point Against Serbia

The Serbia led 3-1 against Cameroon, but the Indomitable Lions came back to 3-3 in one of the most spectacular games at in Group G of the World Cup.

In a game that was full of twist and turns, the two teams parted ways with a logical draw (3-3), but it does not help either of the teams, since they both occupy the two last places of group G, with a point each.

The Indomitable Lions had opened the scores thanks to Jean-Charles Castelletto at the 28th minute, as he appeared on the back post to tap in after a flick down the near side by Nicolas Nkoulou.

Just before the break, with goals from Strahinja Pavlovic (45th + 1), and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic (45th + 3).

Upon return from the locker room, the Serbian Eagles again took a step to three points, capitalizing on a defensive mistake in the back line of the Indomitable Lions. Cameroonians’ defensive mistakes, and Aleksandar Mitrovic was on hand to knock it in at the 53rd minute.

With their backs against the wall coach, Rigobert Song made offensive changes, with the entry of Vincent Aboubakar, Gael Ondoa and Samuel Oum.

It turned out to be a jackpot as Vincent Aboubakar almost singlehandedly turned the game on its head. The the striker first reduced the margin at the 63rd minute with a magnificent lob, before he served Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting for the equalizer at the 66th minute.

Both teams pushed late in the game and the Serbs got other clear cut chances, but the Lions were more defensively organized, and did not concede a goal.

Both teams have one point and will need to win their next games to qualify. Cameroon will face Brazil, and Serbia will meet Switzerland, Thursday, December 2, at 8 p.m.
