Reports: Barbara Gonzalez Leaves Simba SC

Barbara Gonzalez has left her role as C.E.O of Simba Sports Club, Thecitizen reports.

One of the powerful faces on the continent seeks to continue with ‘other dreams’ as affirmed by Thecitizen, reason why she has already handed in a resignation.

During her tenure as Chief Executive Officer, Simba won the 2020/21 Tanzanian premier league, one FAT cup (2020/21), the Mapunzi cup (2022), and Community shield (2020).

The Barbara – led Simba however fell short when it came to CAF inter-club competitions as they could not make it past the quarter finals.

Barbara has decided to call time to her tenure as Simba CEO to give others the opportunity to step in, and to engage in other affairs.

A pretty face with principles, Gonzalez, who holds a Masters Degree in Political science and Economics from London University in the United Kingdom (2013), was appointed as Simba CEO in September 2020.

The 32-year-old who was born in Dar Es Salaam undertook internships in the United Nations after studies in the US and England. She returned to Tanzania in 2014 and worked as a public sector consultant for a financial group.

In 2016 the billionaire Mohammed Dewji gave her a job as head of his Foundation and chief of staff.

Her Simba journey started In 2018. She joined the board of Simba S.C and in September 2020, aged 30, she was made CEO of the club.

With familiar foes Yanga in fine fertile, this could be a leeway for second successive Tanzanian league trophy.

After 15 match days, Simba are placed fourth with 34 points, four adrift of log leaders Yanga on 38.
