Richard Towa leads Colombe to first ever title
Colombe of Dja and Lobo have been crowned winners of the 2024 edition of the Cameroon Cup with experienced gaffer, Richard Towa breaking the over 70-year jinx.
Colombe, the 2019 MTN Elite 1 third-placed runners-up outclassed arc rivals Aigle (1-0) on Sunday, September 29 at the Ahmadou Ahidjo omnisports stadium in Yaoundé.
The only goal of the match was scored by new summer recruit Boris Ekotto, in the first quarter of an hour of the first period.
A lead that the team maintained until the final whistle.
Colombe thus succeeds Fovu club of Baham, winners of the 2023 edition.
The club from “south side” also won its first silverware since existence.
It took Richard Towa only one season for him to conduct the club to the holy grail with style and panache.
Colombe equally played the Elite One championship playoffs last season and only missed out by a whisker.
