Roports: Nigeria Head Coach Gernot Rohr Has Been ‘Fired’

Super Eagles gaffer – Gernot Rohr, has reportedly been fired by the Nigerian Football Federation for unsatisfactory results, sportsglitz.net has learned from unofficial sources.

2 days after securing Nigeria a place in the knockout rounds of the 2022 Qatar World Cup, the super Eagles will reportedly have to continue their ride without Rohr.

The German took over the job as Super Eagles coach on August 9, 2016 and has recorded a 41.88 win percentage in his stint as head coach.

Rohr has come under a lots of stick for his underwhelming performances, intertwined with bonus disputes with the Nigerian FA, since the start of this year.

The trainer has had some special moments with the three times AFCON winners, like in 2017, when Nigeria became the first amongst the lot of African teams, to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.

17 July 2019, Rohr led Nigeria to a third-place finish at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations. On 27 May 2020, president of the Nigeria Football Federation NFF Amaju Melvin Pinnick announced the contractual extension of Rohr’s contract with the team.

Rohr, prior to these turn of events, was given a target of guiding the team to win the 2021 Africa Nations Cup to be hosted by Cameroon. The new contract signed in 2020 also included qualifying the Super Eagles to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The NFF is however yet to officially confirm this reports through hand written, or verbal means.
