Rough Return For Moukoudi At Brest

By Ngome Michael

Cameroon International and AS Saint Etienne defender, Harold Moukoudi did not have an enjoyable come back from injury as he made his first start since having picked up an Injury in their 1-0 loss to Stade Brestios in the French League 1.

St Etienne who began Matcday 16 rock bottom on the classification dominated the early stages of play, attacking at pace but were poor at finishing.

Brest capitalized on counter attackers for scoring chances but individual errors hindered such counters to pay off as the home side often gave away possession and gave in set pieces in their own half.

Both sides retired at the break with nothing to show for ( 0-0).

The lone goal of the encounter came the home side’s way at the hour mark when Gourna Douath received a yellow card for defending the ball with his hand inside the box. Romain Faivre converted the resulting penalty.

Claude Puel’s St Etienne have averaged two wins and two defeats in their last four League1 matches.

Harold Moukoudi who replaced suspended Timothée Kolodziejczak has however been very consistent under Puel with 11 league appearances before his injury lay off.

St Etienne host Renne on Sunday, December 5 2021 in their next game.
