SAFA To Consider Options After FIFA Declares Protest “Inadmissable”

By Ngome Michael

South Africa’s Football Association has released a statement on the recent decision by world football governing body to dismiss its protest against Ghana.

According to a statement on SAFA.net, the association will reason with FIFA’s outcome and weigh its options.

“We have received the decision without details and we will request FIFA for reasons and consider our options”, the statement said.

SAFA through its CEO, Tebogo Mothlante filed a protest to FIFA following South Africa’s 1-0 loss in Ghana which saw the Bafana Bafana finished second in group G and failed to secure a place in the final World Cup Play-offs.

Mr. Mothlante decried injustice on the part of his country after Senegalese referee Maguette Ndiaye rewarded a controversial penalty which produced Ghana’s Play-offs goal scored by André Ayew.

The results of last Month’s game in Ghana sparked a tensed atmosphere between both FAs as media reports revealed statements from both parties defending their interests.
