Saudi Division 1: Pitso Settling Well At Ahli

Pitso Mosimane has hit the ground running with results from the very onset in the Saudi Division 1.

The gaffer has claimed 4 out of a possible 6 points, which turns out to be quite a decent record given the time he was appointed, and how he has managed to turn Ahli to that team with free flowing football once again.

Ahli trailed to visitors Najran, with the goal coming at the brink of the halftime, and a turn-around was much needed to avoid defeat.

The second segment was quite different from the first. Abdullah Al Mogren got a brace at the 54th and 90th minute to gift Pitso’s men all three points, in a nerve wracking 90 minutes at the King Abdullah Sports City stadium.

Next up for Ahli is a trip to Al-Riyadh on Sunday October 16th. Ahli are placed 4th with with 12 points, 4 adrift leaders Al-Faisaly after 7 match days.

For starters, 57-year-old Pitso ended his almost eight-year stay with Mamelodi Sundowns in September 2020 before signing with Egyptian giants Al Ahly.

After winning the Egypt Cup, back-to-back CAF Champions League titles and bagging CAF Super Cup winners medals in 2020 and 2021, the Red Devils offered Mosimane a lucrative two-year contract extension.

The five-time PSL-winning coach mutually parted company with Al Ahly after the team lost 2-0 in the controversial final held in Casablanca, Morocco.

Pitso oversaw 105 fixtures at Al Ahly, winning 68 matches, drawing 27 and only suffering 10 defeats. It seems jingles is about taking us to yet another ride.
