Saudi King Cup: Tawamba Scores, But Epassy Gets The Nod To R16

Plying in Saudi, an encounter pitting Epassy against Tawamba is inevitable!

Back from the World Cup where he was lauded for his heroics in Cameroon’s 1-0 win against Brazil, Davis Epassy was basking in glory getting into a cup game against compatriot, Leandre Tawamba who was dropped by coach Rigobert Song in the final list of the world cup.

Léandre Tawamba faced off against Devis Epassy on Wednesday in the round of 16 of the Saudi King Cup, and it was Epassy who emerged victorious.

In a jam-packed King Abdullah Stadium in Buraydah, Al Taawon of Léandre Tawamba were on the road as they faced Abha FC of his countryman Davis Epassy.

At the end of regular play time, both teams shared the spoils (2-2) after 90 minutes.

In extra time, Abha FC took the advantage to make it 3-2 in the 97th minute before doubling the advantage in added on time to make it 4-2.

Leandre Tawamba reduced the score in the 107th minute. It was a mere consolation, as the match went on to end 4-3 in favor of Abha FC of Devis Epassy who, alongside his teammates, sailed through to the quarter-finals at the expense of Léandre Tawamba and Al Taawon, who have been eliminated.
