Song The Coach Promises A Remake Of Song The Player

Fresh from his appointment as Indomitable Lions gaffer, EX defender Rigobert Song has promised a mirror of his playing days in the dugouts of the men’s senior selection of Cameroon.

The latter was known for an uncompromising defensive style and considered as one of the toughest players to have ever donned the Lions jersey. Rigobert Song used a certain psychological behavior to threaten and intimidate opponent players. The erstwhile Liverpool man was indeed a hard tackler, and a physical, brutal, pricked player, with a trademark — tight marking of opponents. All the energy will now be transmitted to the dugout, according to the new Cameroon coach.

The day after his appointment, Song reacted. He opined that it is an honor for him to be given the top job.

Rigobert Song went on to thank the State of Cameroon, the president of FECAFOOT and his executive committee.

“Cameroon and the Indomitable Lions jersey gave me everything. I am grateful. I am honored to have been chosen to raise the the national flag. Despite the privilege and the joy I feel, I have measured and know the responsibilities entrusted me. I would give everything, as I did as a player and captain of the selection — to repay the confidence granted me by the State of Cameroon, the president of FECAFOOT, Samuel Eto’o and his Executive Committee,’ Song wrote on his official Facebook handle on Tuesday, March 1, 2022.

He went further to ask Cameroonians to support him in the new task. “My staff and I need the support and prayers of millions of Cameroonians to write a new page in the mythical history of the Indomitable Lions,’ stated the two-time African champion.

After his appointment, Song could be seen dancing in a video that circulated on social media, which goes a long way to show how happy he was after the news.

Song’s first test is the game pitting Cameroon against Algeria later this month.
