Song’s attention Tilted As Kunde’s Olympiakos Defeat Soni’s Asteris

On match day 25 of the Greek Super League, Kunde Malong’s Olympiakos defeated Asteras Tripolis of Kevin Soni, via a 5-1 margin, on Wednesday March 2.

Kunde was part of his team’s preparations for match day 25 but later picked up a knock, and so, missed out on the match day squad. For Kevin Soni, he came in at the 68th minute to replace Asier Benito, when the damage was already inflicted on his team.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos opened scores for Olympiakos at the 52nd minute, followed by Giorgos Masoura’s brace at the 54th and 57th minutes. Andreas Bouchalakis later made it four for the hosts before Carmona pulled one back for Asteris at the 74th minute. The Greek champions however had the last laugh as Garry Rodrigues scored the final goal of the evening to end it 5-1.

With just 22 minutes of the ball game, the erstwhile U23 Lions forward, Kevin Soni, showed flashes of brilliance, making a case for himself as one who deserves a national team call.

Kunde is set to return to action for his team on Sunday March 6 as a remains a kingpin to whatever coach Rigobert Song wishes to do against Algeria, later this Month.

For Soni, his statistics equally speak heavy. The Douala-native has scored 6 goals and assisted twice twice, helping his side to 6th place, with an accumulated 35 points.

Soni was shortlisted but didn’t make Cameroon’s final AFCON squad, with pundits holding that, his pace and skill was greatly missed, as Cameroon ended the competition as third best.
