Super Falcons Defeat Cote D’Ivoire 3-0 To Keep AWCON Streak

Holders Nigeria have qualified for the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. They beat Ivory Coast 1-0 on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, in Abidjan.

It was the second leg of the last qualifying round of the AWCON qualifiers. Esther Okoronkwo scored the game’s only goal in the 87th minute to give the Super Falcons a 3-0 aggregate victory. The Nigerians won the first leg 2-0 at the Moshood Abiola Stadium a few days ago thanks to a brace from Ifeoma Onumonu.

Ivory Coast had the opportunity to close the gap in the 44th minute from the penalty spot, but Chiamaka Nnadozie made a superb save to keep her cage clean. The reigning African champions were the last team to qualify for this year’s edition to be held in July in Morocco.

Nigeria will be hoping to clinch her 12th title and further cement their place as Queens of the continent.
