Taddeus Nkeng, Finnish Champion!

Indomitable Lions Under-23 forward Nkeng Taddeus and his HJK Helsinki side got crowned champions of the Finnish Championship on Sunday October 31st, after their one – all draw against rivals – KuPs on match day 27.

Starting the game, Helsinki was clear – a draw would be enough to grab first spot.

Nkeng Taddeus didn’t take part in the game as coach Toni Koskele decided to keep the side unchanged from that which won at the Stadin Derby on Wednesday.

HJK took the lead after 13 minutes, from a free kick. A set piece was perfectly delivered by Lingman towards the back post, before Miro Tenho rose to the highest to nod in.

KuPs however equalised just 5 minutes after but the draw was enough to see Helsinki through.

Being only his rookie season in Finland, Taddeus has scored once, and to garnish that, he was recently called up in the U20 and U23 mixed Lions camp – in Paris, France.

Helsinki will face Macabi Tel Aviv next in the Euroupa conference league on Thursday Nov. 4.
