The Burkinabe’ Football Federation lose control of championship
The regional leagues of Hauts Bassins and Center have suspended their participation in Burkina Faso Football Federation activities until further notice.
This, on the hills of the press conference presenting the new coach of the Stallions, which saw president Lazare Banssé indicate that 25% of subsidies allocated to the clubs will be used for the organization of the championship of the youth categories.
Hence, there was going to be no reason for clubs to demand that amount.
President Lazare added that a committee will be set up to try to bring the different parties together.
A few days after that decision, the regional leagues of Hauts Bassins and Center, the two major leagues of the country with the vast majority of Ligue 1 and 2 clubs, decided to suspend their participations in the activities of the Burkinabè football federation (FBF) until further notice.
The statements with the same reasons dated March 13, 2024 for the Hauts Bassins regional league and March 14, 2024 for the Center regional league, addressed to Lazare Banssé, president of the FBF.
Another crisis in Burkinabe football could lead to the federation being placed under a normalization committee.
For the moment, sporting activities including championships are still at a standstill and the end of the tunnel looks pretty long.
As a reminder, elections for the renewal of the executive committee must be held in August 2024.
