Tunisia Unveil Final 28-Man Squad for AFCON 2025
The Carthage Eagles are officially set for the 2025 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, as head coach Sami Trabelsi announced the final 28-man squad on Thursday, December 11, 2025. The selection process has yielded a squad that strategically blends experienced veterans with promising young talent, aiming to fortify the midfield and maintain the team’s trademark defensive solidity. Tunisia enters the tournament, running from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, with the ambition of securing another continental title.
A major boost to the team comes from the key call-ups and returns of influential figures. Coach Trabelsi has maintained continuity in core areas while welcoming back several notable players. The squad is significantly reinforced by the return of midfielders Ellyes Skhiri from Eintracht Frankfurt and Hannibal Mejbri of Burnley FC. Both players missed recent international fixtures, and their presence is expected to provide essential balance and creativity in the engine room. Adding valuable experience to the defensive line is veteran left-back Ali Maâloul of CS Sfaxien. Other marquee selections include the dynamic midfielder Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane, who plays for Al Ahly, and proven striker Seifeddine Jaziri from Zamalek.
