U-17 Lionesses Gear Up with Three Friendlies in Morocco Before the World Cup
The Cameroon National Women’s U-17 Team, is set to finalize its preparations for the upcoming FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco (October 17 to November 8, 2025).
The team’s delegation is scheduled to fly to Morocco tomorrow, where they will participate in a crucial series of three international friendly matches. These games are designed to fine-tune their strategy and build team cohesion ahead of the global tournament.
Final Preparation Schedule
The U-17 Lionesses will face three distinct opponents in a span of eight days, offering varied challenges from three different continents:
On October 5th, they will play against China. This match pits the Lionesses against an established Asian football power, providing an excellent test of their technical and tactical discipline.
On October 9th, they will meet Zambia. This is an important African derby that will allow the team to gauge their performance against familiar continental competition.
On October 13th, they will take on Ecuador. The final friendly will see the Lionesses compete against a South American side, offering exposure to a different style of play just before the main event begins.
Cameroon’s World Cup Challenge: Group B
Following the official draw, the U-17 Lionesses have been placed in a challenging Group B for the World Cup. They will face formidable opposition from three continents:
Korea DPR (North Korea): The reigning World Champions in the category.
Mexico: A strong contender from the CONCACAF region.
Netherlands: One of the top-performing teams from Europe.
The Lionesses will kick off their campaign on October 18th against the Netherlands.
The Road to Morocco: A Dominant Qualification Journey
The girls of Joseph Brian Ndoko earned their place at the World Cup with an impressive and commanding performance throughout the African qualifiers. Their qualification journey was marked by decisive victories across three rounds:
Cameroon faced Egypt, securing their passage to the next round with a dominant 5-0 aggregate victory.
The Lionesses then went on to play Ethiopia, demonstrating their attacking prowess with a resounding 6-2 aggregate win (a 5-2 win in the first leg followed by a 1-0 win in the second).
In the third and Final Round, Cameroon overcame Kenya with a hard-fought 4-1 aggregate score (winning the first leg 1-0 and the return leg 3-1).
The successful campaign saw them qualify for their third appearance in the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, has fueled confidence and optimism within the squad as they head to the final preparations in Morocco.
