U20 AFCON Thump Tunisia To Grab Bronze

With style, Nigeria defeated Tunisia 4-0 in the TotalEnergies U20 AFCON third place game to clinch bronze. The two teams crossed path on Friday afternoon at the Cairo international stadium with Nigeria inflicting a heavy defeat on Tunisia.

In what was a one-sided game, the West Africans proved to be ruthless. The opener came after just 8 minutes, when Ibrahim Beji Muhammad scored the game’s first goal for Nigeria.

It was one-nil until after the break. Upon resumption of the second half, Ahmed Abdullahi made it 2-0. The flying Eagles were persistent and wanted more more offensive moves. Jude Sunday added a brace to take the scoreline to 4-0.

With the win, Nigeria grabbed the bronze medal, synonymous with third place at the U20 AFCON. Landan Bosso and his charges would have wanted more, but a third place finish and a world cup ticket would have been taken before the tournament Kick started. Tunisia finished fourth and the Eagles will be thanking their stars, after a somewhat average run in the knockouts.
