U23 AFCON: Cotonsport’s Reich Kokolo included in Congo’s final list

Cotonsport’s Reich Triomphe Kokolo is one of 21 players called up by Congo for the U23 AFCON finals billed for Morocco, later this month.

The midfeilder was issued a call by coach Cyril Ndonga after a scintillating campaign, that saw him win the MTN Elite One Championship with Cotonsport, a record extending 18th in the club’s history.

Reich Kokolo bounced back from an injury at the start of the season, to score six goals and dished out four assists en route to the title.

The youngster’s performances couldn’t go unnoticed. He won a domestic double last term, reaching double figures in goals and assists; contributing to 14 goals.

After having held South Africa’s U23s to a parity in the first leg in SA, the Red Devils qualified for the tournament on March 27, at Stade Alphonse Massamba-Débat in Brazzaville, after a zero-all tie.

It was indeed historic, given that It was the first time that the Congolese under 23 team qualified for a final phase of the AFCON.

Kokolo and his teammates will give hosts Morocco a tough passage to the TotalEnergies U23 Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2023 semis, with Ghana Guinea lurking as well.

The TotalEnergies U23 Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2023 will take place between 24 June to 08 July 2023 in the cities of Rabat and Tangier.

Group A matches will be held at Rabat’s Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex while Group B matches will take place at the Grand Stade de Tanger, in Tangier.
