U23 AFCON: Historic win against Niger sends Mali through to semis

The Mali U23 team won on Saturday evening against its counterpart – Niger via a 2-0 margin. After the result, Mali thus obtained their ticket for the semi-finals of the U23 AFCON in Morocco. A historic feet!

A victory was imperative for Mali on Saturday against Niger. Against the odds, Mali went on to win.

The Eagles clinched their ticket to the semi-finals for the first time in their history by winning the game.

Mamadou Sangaré opened the scoring on a penalty spot to unlock the match after the break at the 49th minute, before Ibrahima Cissé came close to doubling the bet with a ball which grazed the right post of the Nigerian goalkeeper at the 74th minute.

It was ultimately Cheickna Doumbia who ensured victory in Mali in the final minutes (90) to make it 2-0.
