UMS agonizingly fail to make playoffs again
UMS has failed to make the playoffs for a second season running, by just millimeters. Last term, it took a ruling that disadvantaged the Loum outfit in favor of eventual winners Cotonsport, but this time, UMS was simply not good enough.
Souleymanou Aboubakar’s team had to win their match against Stade Renard, but, a draw was the outcome.
However, Stade Renard, already qualified for the play-offs, approached the
game against UMS on Saturday as a final, given that it was a derby.
The odds were staked against 2015 winners UMS. They absolutely needed a victory to finish among the top 4 in Pool B.
There were not so many scoring opportunities created on either side.
UMS at times dominated; and even had the ball in the nets in added on time, ar Reunification annex stadium, but Stade Renard looked dangerous with every counter mounted.
With the result, UMS ends just outside the top four consisting of: YOSA, Cotonsport, Fauve Azur and Stade Renard.
