UMS drags Eto’o to Ethics Commission after 1× bet deal

Samuel Eto’o’s contract with 1xbet is still hitting the headlines.

Pointing out the contract of Samuel Eto’o, with gambling company 1xbet, UMS club of Loum filed this Monday, June 26, a complaint for the suspension of the president of FECAFOOT.

sportglitz.com has learned that in a complaint filed on Monday with the FECAFOOT Ethics Commission on the grounds of “Conflict of interest, participation in betting, gambling in connection with football matches and role active or passive in 1Xbet a company which encourages, communicates, organizes or manages sports betting and gambling”, UMS has asked the Ethics Commission to open a procedure in order to apply sanctions against Samuel Eto’o.

UMS de brandishes article 25 of the FECAFOOT code of ethics which stipulates that “It is forbidden for persons to whom this code of ethics applies to participate directly or indirectly, or to be associated in any way with sports betting, gambling, lotteries and other similar activities or transactions in connection with football matches.

They are also prohibited from playing an active or passive role in any company, organization, business, which encourages, communicates, organizes or manages such activities or transactions,” the club mentioned in its letter.

UMS of Loum requests the application of the related sanction; the “prohibition from exercising any football-related activity for 6 years”, as indicated in articles 6 and 8 of the FECAFOOT code of ethics.

The club has informed the Minister of Sports and Physical Education of Cameroon, as well as CAF and FIFA about this complaint to which FECAFOOT officials have not yet responded.

Others have analyzed that Samuel Eto’o has a face value as a former footballer, and has the right to pen deals with gambling companies.
