UNIFFAC 2020: Congo’s Defeat Against CAR Sets ‘Do Or Die’ Thriller Against Cameroon

The Democratic Republic of Congo lost 1-0 to the Central African Republic (CAR) – and Congo’s next game against the Junior Lions of Cameroon is a must win, if they nurse any ambitions of making the U20 AFCON finals next year.

Scheduled to be played in a zonal format, the qualifiers for the U20 Africa Cup of Nations got off to a bad start on Thursday, December 08 for the DRC.

The Congolese missed a step in their first match by losing to the Central African Republic with a score of a goal to nil, at the Alphonse Massamba-debat stadium in Brazzaville.

The only goal of the match was scored by Boris Gbenou in the 30th minute.

The men of Michel Dinzey, coach of the DRC U20 national team, failed to find an equalizer despite the efforts made in the second half.

The DRC will thus face Cameroon on December 11th for its 2nd match, before finishing against Congo Brazzaville on December 14th.
