UNIFFAC U20: CAR Hits Cameroon Out Of 2023 U20 AFCON

A 47th minute strike by Juvenal Steven pougui condemned the Junior Lions to defeat against the Central African Republic on match day 3 of the 4-team UNIFFAC zonal tournament.

The U20 Lions of Cameroon have been taken off the track of the U20 AFCON finals after 3 qualifying games in the UNIFFAC zone without victory.

After parity against hosts Congo in the opener, another recorded draw against the DR Congo followed, before a defeat this Wednesday to the Central African Republic sealed fate for the Junior Lions.

The Central African Republic are through with and await the winners of the last game of the day pitting Congo against the DRC.

It was always going to be a tough ask for coach coach Yvan Kenmoe and the lads who had last ditch preparations prior to the tournament.

Cameroon arrived Congo – oozing with confidence. The junior Lions were the reigning champions and managed to play the quarter finals of the U20 AFCON in Mauritania, back in 2021.

However, the central African side will now miss out on this continental show-piece that is build for February 18-12 March.
