UNIFFAC U17: Fiala Calls Ayuk Cosmas & Angel Yondjo As Back-up

With his back against the wall, Under-17 Lions coach Jean Pierre Fiala has opted to call up two notable forwards in Ayuk Cosmas and Angel Yondjo of Ecole de Football Brasseries.

Jaws dropped in the first place when Ayuk and Yondjo weren’t in the 30-man list initially selected by coach Fiala.

Ayuk Cosmas has left his mark in youth competitions played this year. The youngster made the team of the tournament in the Easter Cup, show-named the ‘champions league’ of youth football with his team Best Stars.

He captained his side to the U17 Geremi Njitap Cup challenge and equally made the team of the tournament, with three goals to his account.

In the regional Championship, Cosmas scored 7 goals and dished out 6 assists, following it up with untrodden displays at the just ended December tournament.

Ayuk has developed a style that makes him devastating with the ball, but also effective without it because of his speed and intelligent movement to create and run into space.

The 16 year old has teammates like Louiz Itare and who prefer to be in control of the ball, which makes his ability to spin in behind the opposition defence a perfect complement.

Yondjo is arguably the finest at center forward in the country. Despite playing for an Academy which has a huge reputation and gallery of stars, Yondjo has managed to keep his shoulders high.

In 2020, at the Limbe international tournament, he was crowned top scorer and best player in the U14 category.

Last year, in the following edition, he stroke again with the U16 category by finishing with the golden boot. In May this year, Yondjo carried EFBC to the crown and finished top scorer in a tournament organized by former Cameroonian international Aurélien Chedjou.

These two are the stars of the players recently called up and will readily join camp on Friday, Dec. 30. MIR tests will still be conducted before the UNIFFAC U17 finals scheduled for Limbe from January 5-12.
