WC Q: Gael Ondoua Pivotal As Cameroon Bamboozle Algeria In Blida

26-year-old Gael Ondoua was in every sense of the word present as the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon picked up their 8th qualification to the FIFA World Cup finals on March 29, in Blida.

In what was expected to be the latter’s baptism of fire, he faired pretty well in a high quality match of football. Paired alongside Oum, Hongla and Toko in a 4-man midfeild, Ondoua provided the much needed balance in transition from defense to attack.

Ondoua initially played 5 minutes in the first leg and those five minutes were enough for coach Rigobert Song to give him a starters role in the reversed fixture.

It is quite a breakthrough for Ondoua and good timing it really is!

Ondoua put in a shift right up until the 111th minute before being substituted in place of Jean Onana.

The Hannover 96 man has played 20 league games in the Bundesliga 2 this campaign and looks to cement himself as a fan favorite in the absence of Zambo Anguissa (injured) prior to the game.
